Fishing
Weipa has built a reputation for itself for being one of the best fishing regions in Queensland, in fact anglers from across the World visit the Cape specifically for fishing alone. If you’re a keen fisherman, then the Cape should be on your “must visit” list. Here you may catch many of the prime recreational sporting species including the famous barramundi. A number of expert guided fishing charters are available in the region, including Eclipse FNQ, Weipa Sports Fishing, Cape York Freedom Fishing Charters, Weipa Flyfishing and more. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, helifishing may take your fancy or if you’re a traditionalist you may prefer the comfort of a boat. Either way, each charter company offers a range of packages to suit all levels so do your research to see what’s available and be sure to book ahead to secure your spot, especially in peak season.
