1. Fishing
There’s no doubt, fishing is one of the key reasons tourists visit our region. Thanks to its sub tropical location, Weipa is home to a vast range of fish species. 4. 4WD Tracks for All Levels
For the 4WDing adrenaline junkies, Cape York offers it all! In fact the region is home to one of the infamous Gun Shot Creek Crossing. With one of the most diverse landscapes Queensland has to offer, an off-road adventure in the Cape York region has become a bucket-list item for 4WD enthusiasts and is an experience that will leave you with much more than just a camera roll full of memories. Test your off-roading driving skills in some of the most difficult and extreme landscapes, from deep river crossings on rocky terrain to stretches of bull dust roads, beaches and at times dense rainforests. 6. Achimbun Cultural Centre
Having undergone major renovations in 2012, the Western Cape Cutural Centre located at Evans Landing has evolved into a modern learning hub with informative displays and artwork showcasing the cultural practices of Traditional Owners. Here you can discover the rich cultural history and diversity of Weipa and the surrounding regions in an engaging way.
